Slide presentation

Things 10 and 11

I edited the group document by setting the line space to double and added my comment as to what I corrected. It is an efficient way to share and edit documents. A situation with a patron actually came up the other day, too, in which we suggested using Google docs as a good way to handle her problem.
I also added my slides to the group slide show and look forward to seeing the finished presentation on the blog site.

Thing 11

Thing 11 was fun to do, I used a Coca Cola Santa with jingle bells music. Mary and Yvonne were there to help me thru it all. Merry Christmas, everyone! Ho Ho Ho!

Thing 9

I watched the video and took the tour. To my way of thinking, it is absolutely magnificent for people that spend way too much time on their computers. I can't wait to 'share' this with my sister-in-law and a friend who works from home. Maybe this will relieve some of the frustration of dealing with emails and keep her from destroying our home computers. It is easy to see viable uses for anything that lets you deal with others when it's a joint venture. Even my travel plans could be made easier when coordinating with my traveling companions....lists, dates, needs. WOW

One document, less confusion, easier managing of documents, easier sharing...I just might get organized after all!

Thing 9

Google Docs would be great for individuals, students, or groups who are working on a project together. At Google docs anyone in the group can access the document from any computer to make changes or to just view the document depending on the level of interaction giving to each individual.

Thing 9

I've taken the Google docs tour and learned about the convenience of posting a document, etc., in one spot on the internet with the capabilities of having it edited by invited persons. In concrete images, it rather reminded me of a public storage building that anyone can use to store their belongings, with a "sense" of security and control.
I sure could have used this in college with group presentations, especially with the plus of being able to access the info from any computer anywhere. I did a few editing jobs for a friend overseas that were sent to me via email and the editing was done to satisfaction and easy enough, but will be curious to see how editing through Google docs works.

Thing 8

Okay, I've Diigo-ed! The video was very helpful and had no problems sharing sites with my "library group". As with the other exercises, this is another convenient way to share, explore, stay up-to-date and in touch with information and activities connected with other groups of interest.

Thing 8

Well, if I did this correctly, I just bookmarked and shared with Largo Public Library group. At any rate, apparently my 'diigolet' is there and waiting for me to use it. I really like this concept to use for anything I might be researching at any given moment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Elizabeth,Tammy, Diane, Patty and everyone else for all the help they have given me and their continued support.

Thing 8

This was an interesting exercise.  Some how after signing up for Diigo, the site gave me a Diigo sign in button in my toolbar.  So first I had to uninstall that (thanks Diane for you help with this), then I was able to add the Diigolet button.  I like the Diigolet because I can see what other interesting sites people are viewing.  This is a handy way for a group of people to share sites and information.

Finally figured it out, with the help of TW and DS! This will make site retrieving much easier for me and the public. A new way to file things away!

Thing 6

I'm aging faster than technology is.....that is not to say that I don't enjoy learning some new things. I thought that the BLURB was excellent. This is a great tool to help me write a picture for and about my boys when they were little. Something to really remember me by. I was intrigued by the MyPicsMap, but I am afraid it will send me on a traveling frenzy. Flogr has a string of things that I may actually use personally...on my own time, can you imagine. BigHugeLabs is a really neat thing to mess around with. Spell with Flickr was cutesy. I don't know that I will ever really take my personal time to share my photos online. I am not uneasy about it other than I will not post my granddaughter, but I do not plan on spending any more time on the computer at home than is necessary to do what I already do. But who knows, that is why it is important to learn about new things and try to keep abreast of some of what's happening in the world of technology.

Three mashups I liked were Jigsawd (puzzles), Vowl (random tag based sideshows) and Tiny Prints (cards). I guess I was thinking of my Monday night story time kids and how these 3 things would entertain them. Those kids probably could teach me a thing or two. Couldn't transfer my spelled word, just got the sight to come up... can't do it on my own yet. Sharing photos is entertaining, but I don't know the risks involved, so I'm not sure about it yet. Feel like a snail...
